The General Office Worker (summer student) will perform general office duties for both Community and Family Services and the Food Bank as detailed below.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performing general office duties including screening telephone calls, directing inquiries, greeting and serving clients
- Serving food bank clients including client intake and packing food hampers
- Data entry using MS Excel and Link2Feed
- Weighing and recording food donations
- Sorting and storing food donations
- Providing general office support including using Microsoft Office software
- Coordinating the After The Bell summer lunch program
- Performing other duties as assigned including social media posting, website updating, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Serve clients in a professional and respectful manner
- Comfortable using computers
- Familiar with Microsoft Office software
- Understand the importance of confidentiality
- Be adaptable to new situations as the need arises
- Ability to lift at least 25 lbs
- Ability to work within a Christian faith-based setting and uphold the mission, vision and values of The Salvation Army
- Ability to work on the front line as an essential worker (PPE will be supplied if required)
Obtain a Criminal Police/Vulnerable Sector Check and clearance through The Salvation Army Internal Abuse Registry and be willing to sign The Salvation Army Code of Conduct Receipt & Acknowledgement Form.

Ability to work on the front line as an essential worker. PPE will be supplied. Clients entering the building are required to wear a mask and stand behind a barrier.
